The Easter Christian representation at Oliva de la Frontera

Every year during Eastern takes place a representation of Jesus life in this little town at the southwest of Extremadura. Streets become living sceneries where the most important episodes of Jesus last days are played.

Entrance to Jerusalem

When Eastern is held Oliva de la Frontera changes into a 1st century Jerusalem and the Passion (so called the last days of Jesus life) is recreated. More than three hundred people contribute actively to give shape to this perform, including actors, troupe, and staff.

On Palm Sunday it is represented the entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem.

Jesus is acclaimed as spiritual guide, people are ready to follow him up. That's the meaning of this act: a public demonstration where people sing, and shout their willingness of becoming part of Jesus' learnings, although they know the way is not easy.

The last Supper

The play begins on Maundy Thursday , where the passion itself is carried out, the last súper, the prayer in the olive match, and the trial before Caifas

Jesús before Pilatos

In the midday of the Good Friday the last hours of the Passion are placed the appearance before Pilatos en Herodes, the way to Calvary, crucifixion and finally Crist's death.

The Passion celebration in Oliva de la Frontera has been recognized by the Regional Goverment of Extremadura as main celebration, a lot of people goes to the city to live these days in a different cultural and religious way
